When contact is lost with Mission Control, Commander John Dennington isn’t overly concerned. Such hiccups in communication are common. The first inkling of the larger problem occurs when he sees the very shape of the world change before his eyes.<br><br>John must ease his crew into a new mission and keep the Station together by any means necessary. The crew jeopardizes their chances by fighting his orders, but Jason Weiss, his mission specialist and the light of his life, makes John’s situation more bearable.<br><br>The smallest malfunction to Station or crew would spell the end for six astronauts trapped high above a ruined Earth. It’s their mission to carry on. Random chance of the universe hasn’t operated in their favor so far, but John is determined to see them all safely home.

Expedition 63 Book 1: Dusk

“No way.” Jason patted his chest. “It’s faster if I do it. I’ve got this.”


A weird feeling of dread slid down his spine. He hated to see any of them go out of the Station. It felt like they were all one little mistake away from being separated from the Station and drawn down into theEarth’s atmosphere. Their little home was too small for his comfort, but at least it wasn’t the vast vacuum of space. He didn’t want to think of the gut-churning possibility of being on the line while oneof the crew was lost, having to listen to their last moments in panic or despair. And Jason? Out there? It made his skin crawl.


Not a word of those thoughts came out of his mouth though. His crew was well trained and had walked the outside of the Station a couple dozen times without mishap. While their situation was very different after loss of contact with Ground, the essentials of their jobs were still the same. Space walks for maintenance and repair were normal. There was no reason to worry.
