Chapter 15

“Okay, you’re here and I have to dash,” Nina said. “I’m in nineteen-o-one, if you ever need someone to talk to or do something with.”

“The way things are going, I might take you up on that. See you later, and thanks.”

“Sure, any time. I mean it.” Nina kissed his cheek then hurried on her way down the street.

“Camilla O’Neill is in exam room one,” Jane Patrick, Nina’s receptionist, said as soon as Nina entered the waiting room of her clinic.

“Oh dear. Did she say why she’s here?”

“No, but she looks terrified.”

“I swear, if I could I’d kill the bastard,” Nina muttered, putting on her lab coat as she hurried down the hall. When she opened the door to the examination room she saw Camilla huddled on the chair beside the desk. The beautiful auburn-haired, pale skinned woman visibly started and shrank back before she saw it was Nina.

Going to her, Nina sat down, taking Camilla’s hand in hers. “What’s going on?” she asked softly.
