Chapter 15

Sartin returned his concentration to his flute and blushed.

“No mate, but you have a lover. Thornton has a taste for Alewar?”

Sartin looked up. “How did you know?”

“He’s the only widower in the pod.”

“But—”

“Even though the Alewar does not come out in his eyes, remember Alewar is in everybody. Plus, the olderyou get, the more willing one is to explore their Alewar tastes.”

Sartin shrugged. “Thornton doesn’t want to become Alewar.”

“It is not an easy life.”

Sartin rolled his eyes. “I know.”

“The song you hear is the beginning of the song you hear with your mate. He probably hears it himself. If you hear it now, it will be revealed to both of you tonight.”

Sartin looked back up at Stover. “How will I know?”

“There will be no mistake when the song swells. You’ve never heard this before, not even with Thornton?”

“No.” The song he heard with Thornton was full of lust and release. This song was deeper.

“Then this is your season. The Princess saved you for someone special.”
