Quibell pulled Sartin near and kissed his forehead. “Good luck, my son.”

The sun and tide coalesced together, creating the perfect atmosphere for the Winter Presentation Ceremony. As the cove emptied, a soft bed of sand, seaweed, and sea creatures was left for the Sea People to rest upon. The evening sun cast a golden glow on the lagoon, heightening the mood of the most important ceremony in the season for the Sea People.

Just like Sartin’s pod traveled and rested in a defined social order, the pods at Winter Meeting also followed a distinct arrangement. Anchored on the beach, Addison’s pod formed the nucleus of the super pod. Nearest to them were the elderly Sea People, no longer able to make the Summer Migration or Winter Journey.
