“Allow us time to construct a throne to carry you to the village.”
“First, introduce me to your villagers, Maru.”
“Kamohoali’i, this is Kekoa, Akoni, Moana, and Bane.” Maru introduced the warriors in order.
Then the warriors set about to make a stretcher to transport Sartin to the village. They used two long poles and wove a seat of palm fronds on which Sartin would sit while they carried him. Sartin eyed the clouds in the west that boiled higher and higher as the other men worked.
“Maru, we need more fronds.” It wasn’t a request from Kekoa.
“Maru was my savior and holds a special place at my right side. He must not leave it unless to perform an errand for me.” Even Maru flinched at Sartin’s authoritative tone.
Kekoa smiled weakly and nodded his head at Sartin. “Of course, Kamohoali’i.” He glared at Maru as he cut the fronds he needed from the edge of the jungle.
Once the warriors completed the transport, they lifted Sartin into the seat.
