Sartin worried about Maru. The young savior deserved his own bliss. Sure, with the death of his father and his impending Coupling with Kekoa, he was second in leadership of the tribe. But none of that meant anything if Maru wasn’t happy. For Maru’s sake, Sartin prayed to the Princess that Kekoa would redeemhimself.
“Good morning.” Sommar’s words stirred Sartin from his reverie. Sommar smiled, almost as eager as hedid the night of the Presentation Ceremony. Yet there was maturity in the smile.
“Hello…I was just—”
“Taking your morning swim to clear your head?” Sommar grinned. “I thought so. I’m glad being away hasn’t changed your habits. You’re still you.” Sommar leaned in to kiss Sartin.
