He surfaced for air, attempting to tread water as usual. He no sooner gulped and fell back into the water. He pushed himself up again and clung to the side of the boat.
“Be careful, you’ll tip us over!” Jamesdavis yelled, trying to steady the dingy.
“I need full control of my tail.” Sartin panted, catching his breath. “Can you chain my wrist instead? I can’t tread water or swim without my tail.” Sartin met Jamesdavis’s hard stare and did not waver. If the man wanted an accurate study of his abilities, he’d have to acquiesce to Sartin’s request. After a long moment, Jamesdavis nodded at Tobydallum.
Sartin lifted his tail to the surface so Tobydallum could release him from his bondage. The key was in the collar and it clicked before Jamesdavis yelled again.
“Cuff his arm first, or he’ll get away!”
