Chapter 83

“Sure.”

“Did anything happen this time when you were on the wooden whale? I mean with the pale men, like it did with that darker skinned Maru?”

Sartin grabbed Sommar and pulled Sommar to his face. “Not at all! I heard our song in my head the whole time. I knew you were still alive.”

Sommar’s smile returned and his body relaxed in Sartin’s hands. His wrists ached from holding Sommar, but Sartin worked through the pain. He had Sommar in his hands and wasn’t letting go.

“I think it’s three, unless it takes you longer.”

“I’ve never been the center of attention like this before.”

Sommar put his hands on either side of Sartin and lifted himself out of Sartin’s grasp. “You must understand that as Alewar, you are one of the most prized ones in the pod. I don’t care how you’ve beentreated before now, but from this point forward I want you to understand how special you are.”
