Chapter 85

“It’s so weird to have so much attention paid to me,” Sartin said to Sommar after taking a big bite offish. The food soothed his stomach and his soul as the energy returned to his body.

“Get used to it,” Sommar said with a smile, taking a bite himself.

The Sea People continued to feast until there was very little left. The adults helped to dispose of the bones and other skeletal parts so as not to attract predators, strategically placing the remains in thecurrents to carry them away from Winter Cove. The gulls, still picking at leftovers, followed the pile of carcasses as it was sent out to sea. A minor distress sounded when an Alewar spotted a shark near the pile of debris.

The conch sounded. “We gather together on this special feast day to honor Sartin who has returned to usfrom the land of the Dead, or so we thought. We honor Sommar, Stover, and the rest of the small party whorescued Sartin not only once, but twice from the land people.”
