“Indeed, and it is but a two day journey if the pass is still open.”
“You are quite certain that is your home?” Lain asked.
Theirn nodded. “I believe so. It was deep in the mountains, that much I know, and I do remember that when I fled the sun was in the east, on my left hand, and then in front of me until it went down so that means I went west and then south.”
“Clever lad,” Beleg commented. “And that would be correct as there is a pass just here, or there was, that went in that direction. Did you not go by it on your way here?” Theirn shook his head. “Ah well, such were the magics of the prince. It is very possible he closed it for whatever reason since then.”
Castien tapped a knuckle on his lip. “Could we, however, go from here to his village with little problem other than perhaps the wandering troops of soldiers who are not yet aware the prince is dead?”
“Yes.”
“Then we shall leave in the morning.”Chapter 28
