Chapter 6

Softly Jack moaned, “I’ll have to tell my boss.”

How on earth, he pondered but didn’t say out loud, was he ever going to tell a human being that he was pregnant?

Callum’s reaction was a simple, “Hm,” and then, “coffee?”

Jack let him fill up his cup, Jack’s mind preoccupied envisioning various horror scenarios: Baron laughing at him. Baron not believing a single word told to him. Baron getting angry for making fun of him. Baron firing him.

He took a sip of the coffee and gurgled in agony. “What did you do to my coffee, Cal? It tastes horrible!”

“It’s decaf.”

Of course. No caffeine for pregnant people. Jack sighed. Maybe he could get used to this stuff…?

“I can’t tell him,” he decided after his third gulp of the sickening brew. “He’s so dignified. He’ll just think I’m pulling a prank on him, and he’s not the kind of man who appreciates things like that.”
