While Theo was embarrassed and confused, the others were merely amused. Parker, Jack had never liked him, gave a mock wolf whistle, and Dierks yelled something Jack chose to ignore. The others quickly joined in with low jokes and tasteless comments.


He was about ready to claw some eyes out when Captain Baron showed up. Immediately, the jokes subsided. Twelve officers contritely looked to the floor.


The captain declared, calm but adamant, “One of my team is pregnant. If anyone of you feels the need to harass this person, you can give up your badge and weapon this very instant, walk out of this precinct and kiss your pension goodbye. Otherwise, apologize and go back to work. And I suggest you tuck that shirt back in now, Detective Nightmare.”
