Chapter 24

The fact Conley was planning that far ahead gave Brian hope that eventually they would move on from lovers to something more.

Thanksgiving was the next holiday however, and since it fell on Brian’s day off they decided to celebrate in style. Conley insisted Brian cook a turkey, “Or at least a turkey breast.” Brian found a recipe for mushroom pot pie they could make for Conley.

“Turkey in the oven. Check. Potatoes ready to cook. Check. Your pot pie is ready to go into the oven. Stuffing—”

“Is with the turkey breast so it’s already been checked,” Conley said, shaking his head. “What would you do without your list?”

“Drive you crazy asking if we’ve done such and such and so and so?”

“Probably. Here.” Conley handed Brian a glass of wine. “Settle. Relax. There’s nothing more you can do for a couple of hours.”

Brian took a sip of wine, set it down on the counter, and putting his hands on Conley’s hips said, “I can think of something.”

“If you say watch a football game…”
