“I think he missed us,” Conley said as they headed upstairs.
“More like he thinks he’s starving.”
Conley snorted. “I filled his bowls before I left to pick you up.”
“And?”
“Okay, point made.”
They stopped in the solarium to spend some time with the macaw before heading to bed.
“In case I haven’t said it recently,” Brian said, snuggling into Conley’s embrace. “I love you.”
“Well, it has been a few hours since I heard it. This morning I believe, before I left for work.” He dropped a soft kiss on Brian’s lips. “I love you back, so we’re good.”
“Good? We’re great,” Brian replied. “Perfect, in fact.”
“You’ll get no argument from me,” was the last thing Brian heard before he fell asleep.
