Chapter 13

She smiled and explained that the cafeteria was run on a pay plan basis. Meals were covered on your board. Plans were for breakfast only, dinner only, or breakfast and dinner with an option to make your own bag lunch. She told Neil he could sign up in the tour office with Margie. When he tried to pay for the coffee she smiled demurely and said, “It’s on me.”

Neil thanked her, made a mental note to check with Margie about a meal plan, and left the building. There were a few snow flurries in the air.

Shit, Neil thought, snow in April. He’d only experienced snow in Texas a few times in his life, and that had been in January. He hunkered down into the heavy coat Rolf had brought him. He wondered if the coat was one of Rolf’s. The thought pleased him. He smiled.

Neil followed the signs to the main barn. He arrived there only a few minutes late. Ron and Betsy were already standing outside the massive structure, chatting. “Sorry. I overslept.”
