Chapter 14

They walked back down the hill from the museum. The light snow had stopped and the sun was trying to come out. Ron and the young veterinarians toured the state-of-the-art vet clinic and surgery which was located next to the farrier barn, a fact which was not lost on Neil. The surgery was extraordinary. Both vets were very impressed.

They met Kip, Clancy, and Murphy in front of the Island Tours main building. Ron said goodbye and told them Dr. Turner would meet them when they got to the livery in town to complete their orientation.

Neil sat with Kip on the driver’s seat. They took the scenic route down into town through the dense forests of the island, now clad in the pale green of new leaves. Kip did his tour guide thing and talked points of interest along the way: a cemetery dating back to the 1700’s, the colonial army outlook post used to monitor ships passing through the straits, and a Native American burial cave.
