That was fine with Neil. He needed time to process what Rolf had just told him. Now Neil knew the whole story. The puzzle of Rolf’s aloofness to the staff and his strange reactions to Neil were explained. Rolf had carried the hurt that Hans had caused him all these years. It had prevented him from having a full life, from having friends, from finding love. Now, it seemed, something about Neil was freeing Rolf enough that he might take a chance. If Neil wanted to explore his feelings for Rolf, he would have to be patient. Rolf needed to come to him when and if he was confident that Neil could be trusted not to hurt him again as Hans had.
