Chapter 19

The only flea remaining on Mike’s hide was a growing worry about the future of his relationship with Adam. They had kept things on a strictly business basis while the arrests and related legal matters got sorted out. Now he began to think their one time together had been a fluke. Maybe Adam found him lacking or decided it was too risky for their connection to continue and perhaps be exposed.

He wasn’t sure how the Dineh reacted to gay tribal members, especially one who built a relationship with a stranger, an outsider. For all he knew, they held similar views to those of his father’s macho biker friends and some of his mother’s church-going kin. His spirits sank at that thought, despite the other successes surrounding him now.
