Chapter 13

Reece walked towards Finn with his phone still high in the air. “I could get you fired for grabbing Brody like that.”

“I didn’t grab him, I gripped his arm to stop him from walking into danger. The kind of thing his friends should be doing.”

Reece snorted. “Have you not seen him surfing, this is easy.”

“The sea is unsettled; the waves are breaking erratically.”

“And Brody is a pro.”

Reece shoved the phone in Finn’s face, and he held his hand up. “Put that phone away.”

“No, this is going to get him so many hits.”

“Hits? Is that all you care about, not the safety of your friend?”

“Look, if he says he can do it, I trust him, and it’s him that’s after the hits.”

Finn growled and gripped the top of his nose.

Brody paddled on his board further into the sea. His progress was slow, and Finn hoped he would give up when the ache in his arms got too much.

The shallows him and Reece stood in rose suddenly with a fleeting wave, and Finn gripped Reece’s elbow to steady him.
