Holy tortellini!
My hand flew to my mouth, but my heart felt light, as though it had grown wings and fluttered with happiness.
Liam hooked his arm around my neck and whispered, “What’s wrong, babe?”
I turned sideways until I faced him. Cupping his cheeks, I smiled as I swept my thumbs over his cheekbones. “Not a thing. I just realized I’m genuinely happy.” I didn’t bother keeping my voice down. Let everyone in the fudging world hear the truth.
“Yeah?” Stars blinked to life in Liam’s eyes.
I nodded, stole a quick kiss, and breathed in his scent. He still smelled of the forest, even after doing manual labor on an unusually warm fall day. And the scent gave me the courage I needed. After ending the chaste kiss, I put my mouth to his ear and whispered, “I love you.”
