Chapter 17

Mason walked off, blinking when Kyle fell into step at his side. Fuck it all; he had to slow down or be rude, make it obvious he didn’t want company. Kyle was on his feet with the aid of crutches. Despite the possibility of coming across like a prick, Mason might have hurried off, but what if Kyle tried to keep up and fell flat on his face? He was building up muscle fast, but he remained undoubtedly weak.

Not as Mason cared, but stupid to have rescued the man to watch him break his neck tripping over a stick.

Why had he rescued the guy come to that? Fine, so once they realised Kyle was alive no one was going to put him down like rotting meat. Didn’t mean Mason had to be the one to break the lock, to carry the man out of the cage. Something about seeing him helpless…Mason swallowed again. Sentimentality. Like rescuing an abused dog. Stupid of him.

He glanced over. So Kyle was up and walking. Better off dead. They all were.

Did he include Antonio?
