Chapter 13

Rafe dismissed the computer on the huge glass-topped desk—it was connected to the facility’s network. The desk itself was locked, but a little careful effort with a paper clip took care of that. Some digging turned up a tablet casually concealed in the bottom drawer. Not very secure, but if Lowther kept it hidden, it must be valuable. Rafe powered it on and had to stifle a laugh. The password to open the tablet was already keyed in and saved.

The software was a little more challenging—the files were encrypted. Having no equipment to use on it, Rafe pulled out the thumb drive he always kept on his key ring and copied everything. He’d break into the files once he was safe.
