Chapter 4

Jared chuckled, his eyes lighting up. “I thought you were a New Yorker now.”

“You’ve been keeping tabs on me?” David asked with a smile.

“I might have Googled you from time to time,” Jared admitted, shrugging his shoulders as a smile creeped up his face.

“Well, as long as we’re making that confession. My research led me to believe that you were in Colorado,” David volunteered, running a hand through his hair.

“I moved back to Florida,” Jared explained. “I found a job in Jax and moved here about five years ago.”

“You didn’t want one in Miami? I mean, to be near your dad.”

“I wanted to be here,” Jared replied.

“So you bought the house down the street?” David asked.

“I lived in an apartment over on Southside Boulevard for a few years, and I kept my eye on this neighborhood, waiting to see if anything good opened up.”

“You remembered the neighborhood that well? You were only here once, a weekend that summer after graduation.”
