Chapter 13

It took him over an hour in the bathroom, but by the time he was climbing into his underwear, he had cleaned, exfoliated, and moisturized with products he kept stored there because he knew he would never have time to do these things except when on vacation. He put on the rest of his clothes and then dug in the bag. “Crap, I knew I forgot something!” David mumbled to himself.

Dressed, but not finished grooming, David ran downstairs to his parents’ bathroom and dug under the sink for the cologne his father used to wear so often. It was where he had left it, way behind a bunch of cleaning products. David shook it, grateful that there was still something in the bottle, and then he sprayed himself and his clothes so much that later he worried that Jared might think he had gone overboard visiting cologne samplers in the mall.
