Chapter 16

When the shaking in her hands subsided to a slow quaking, Brynn raked her fingers through her hair and took a deep breath of humid air. What the fuck had she been thinking? Brynn berated herself for not staying at the hospital and for inconveniencing Nikki to the extent of her having to practically carry Brynn to her apartment. Brynn was mortified with the decision she’d made out of fear. It wouldn’t have killed her to stay in the on-call room, but she didn’t want to have a flashback within the hospital. The last thing she wanted was Janice or another nurse worrying about her mental stability or babying her. She was an adult and had relied on others far too much after the attack and she didn’t want to succumb to that again.
