Chapter 26

After what felt like hours, Gordon entered the bedroom where Kyle was being laid down on the bed, bowing at Clement and informing him that the doctor and nurses were outside. He granted them permission to enter in a hurry and waved away their awkward formality. Kyle was more important to him than any royal protocols. He released Kyle’s hand and got up from the chair he had been sitting on. He didn’t want to hinder the doctor and nurses from performing their tasks. He was tempted to remain by the bedside, but he felt helpless and enraged at the same time. Thus, he made his way toward one of the windows in the bedroom and stood next to it, staring at the garden outside without really appreciating the scenery. He gritted his teeth and clenched his fists as he attempted to get his temper under control.

“Your Royal Highness.”

Gordon’s voice brought Clement back to the present. He turned toward the Royal Secretary and nodded, ignoring the slight bow.

“How is he?”
