Chapter 34

Oh, stuff a sock in it already. I listen. I just don’t always agree.

His inner bear huffed.

“So, you’ve always been a country bear?”

“Not always. I spent my fair share of time in the big city.”

“Medical school. Gotcha.”

TJ didn’t bother to correct the assumption. “I’m happier out here.”

Donovan gave a short nod. “Clean air. Space. Nature. What’s not to love?”

“Right.” Not in a talkative mood, TJ sat quiet the rest of the way. He turned thoughtful, recalling Donovan’s story about being raised by humans. Definitely a setback, especially if his parents preferred to look the other way about his genetics. The fact that Donovan made it thus far as a responsible polar shifter spoke of his fortitude and intelligence. Many others would have gone berserk or became hobbits. Not Donovan. He seemed foot loose and fancy free. Not burdening himself with the past.

I wish like hell I knew how to do that. To put everything behind me and live in the present.

Start by taking a chance. On him.
