Chapter 57

A tendril of fear returned at the thought of what would happen if Bagsby did happen to find out TJ was harboring him.

“First of all, anyone in this town will recognize a stranger. They aren’t about to blab where to find you right off the cuff. I’m certain they’d give us a call with a head’s up, if they know you’re with me in the first place.”

“Makes sense. In a small town, he’ll stick out like a rabid kangaroo hopping down Main Street.” Unlike huge cities where there’s endless faces on strangers that people don’t even take a moment’s notice of.

“Right. We don’t need to incite mass panic. So, don’t tell anyone about Bagsby. He won’t be gunning for the whole town. They’ll be safer knowing nothing.”

Donovan agreed. “Yeah. I can see how that might not be a good idea, planting the seed of worry in their minds.” They didn’t deserve all the apprehension that came along with the load he carried. He’d gladly continue shouldering it for everyone else.
