The young woman had been helpful, but how would she react to seeing Wen? There was no time to wait for her to leave. Yashiv was going to be questioned soon. Cassian had to save him.
Cassian entered the hallway.
Gullen jumped into the air, then, when she recognized Cassian, placed a hand to her heart. “Clara! There you are! You scared me! Where did you go? Who is this child?” The young woman glanced the way Cassian had come and realized he’d just left the dungeons.
“She’s my sister,” Cassian told her quietly. “Imprisoned on false charges. I need to get her out of here. Gullen, can I trust you to hide her somewhere?”
Wen stirred in his arms. “No, Clara. I want to stay with you.”
“Wen, you need to be safe. I have to go find Yashiv and the others.”
“Clara,” Gullen said slowly. “What’s going on?”
“I’m sorry to put you in this position, Gullen, but I don’t have a choice. Please, my sister is in danger. My betrothed is in danger. Hide her so I can free him.”
