Shane has never managed to catch a break. His mother died when he was a teen and his father left home the day he turned eighteen. Then he met a man he thought would fulfill all his dreams. “We’re both interested in people. We both like a good time. We both like to travel. In fact, we’ve been to Europe together. We like eating out and going to parties.”


“Okay. Okay,” said Shane, laughing. “I get the picture.”


Shane was getting more than the picture. He was understanding what a good life he could share in if things worked out with Michael. He realised all the things he’d missed out on while he was with Tyler, who didn’t enjoy doing any of the things Michael did, could now be accomplished. He could catch up on life and dare to be happy.


Finally, ten days after he’d moved into Mona’s house, Shane got the phone call he’d been waiting for.


“You’re talking to the proud owner of a new house,” said Michael.


Shane could hear it in his voice that Michael was beaming. “That’s fantastic. When?”


“This morning. The money came through from the sale of my house so I can now finalise the purchase of the new place.”
