Chapter 9

They struggled over the knife, and the man got it and was about to stab London when a woman swung a purse.

“Don’t you dare hurt London. He’s a good man.”

Another woman hit the attacker with her purse, and two men, one about seventy and the other maybe twenty-five, jumped the man and took the knife. The first two women grabbed the woman who had been punched and took her to the front of the bus. The two men, joined by another two men, beat the attacker.

London was afraid they’d kill him. “Please, stop. That’s enough. Thank you for helping me.” He realized he had a cut on his hand that poured blood. His jaw shook and heart pounded.

A woman got the first aid kit from the front of the bus and tended to London, saying, “You were brave, and I’m proud of you.”
