Chapter 109

When the elevator doors opened, Noah stepped out and waited for Mason to lead the way. Mason weaved through the offices and cubbies, still not wanting to say anything until they reached his office. Once inside, Mason took another deep breath. The hair on the back of his neck stood on edge. His intuition said they’d run into one of his superiors when they came to the office, and he couldn’t let the feeling go, even though they’d made it so far undetected.

Mason glanced over his shoulder at Noah. The other man said nothing, waiting for Mason’s cue.

“Sorry I’m all cloak-and-dagger. I still don’t trust this place isn’t bugged.”

“What about your office?” Noah asked.

“Right now, I don’t know. I’ve checked in the past, and it’s been clear. Besides, we need someplace we can talk, and I think this is our best bet.”

“Okay. So what do we do now?”
