Chapter 110

“If anyone shows up, tell them I ran to the third floor, and I’ll be right back.”

“What’s on the third floor?” Noah asked.

“Archives. Anyone knowing my files are gone would assume I’m investigating why. The area is secure, no one in or out without the guard’s approval, and she definitely isn’t in this early on a Saturday, so everything will be locked down.”

“What if someone goes to check on you?”

“By the time they go down and come back, I’ll be done.”

Noah knew Mason left off the hopefullyon purpose. Adrenaline pumped through Noah. He was ready to deal with a hard time waiting.

Before Mason had a chance to head out of the room, Noah grabbed him, pulling him into his arms. His lips next to Mason’s ear he breathed in. “Be careful. There’s a good chance someone is after you, and if it’s because of this case, you’re outside the wire.”

“I’ll be fine. Promise. I’ll be back before you even realize I’m gone.”
