Chapter 10

“Am I supposed to know this?”

Ainsley stared at him as if he’d lost his mind. “You don’t know?”

“Uh, I still forget things…”

“You don’t even feel anything?”

Callum read and read the name again, trying to shake his mind as well as his emotions. No. Still nothing.

“Sorry,” he said. He really was. “Can you just tell me? The name sounds…Elvish.”

Callum almost choked on his own tongue once the word left his mouth. “An elf. Who was he?” he pushed.

“Callum, he was your father,” said Ainsley slowly. “Your father was an elf. That makes you one, too.”

The world was spinning, his gaze blurring. He wasn’t aware of what happened next. He dimly heard Ainsley calling out his name. Slowly, Callum opened his eyes to Ainsley looming over him.

“Hey, are you still with me?” Ainsley gave a shaky, small smile. “How are you feeling?”

“Like someone who was hit by a semi while being told he was an elf.” Callum took Ainsley’s outstretched hand and pulled himself up.
