Never did I want to kiss the married man or end up in bed with him, but if that was needed to prove his infidelity, I would have done both without guilt. Maddy’s money was as good as any, if not better, and she had fronted me a locker full of cash for my services, which prompted me not to disappoint her regarding her needs. If I played my game well, neither of us would be hurt, including Dash for that matter, and a happy ending could be reached for all of those persons involved in the case.
That afternoon I drove to Blue Ranch to introduce myself to Dash, not as a private detective, but rather someone who was interested in his artwork, appreciating its value and the time he had spent creating such popular sculptures. Dash was not at the sprawling ranch though, which covered twenty-nine acres, had two barns, and a small house where he sometimes slept, distant from his wife, or had seduced his men, bedding them with heated pleasure while drunk.
