Chapter 30

It didn’t matter. He had to remind himself none of it mattered. All that mattered was work, and leaving the world better than he’d found it. Maybe if he concentrated on improving the world around him, he wouldn’t feel so bad about being alone. He’d always done some volunteering, but Jordan figured maybe now it was time to step it up a little.

Sam would tell him to go for it. Of course, Sam had called him for no other reason than to remind him he didn’t want a relationship with Jordan, so maybe Jordan shouldn’t worry too much about what Sam thought.

He chided himself for overreacting. Sam hadn’t called Jordan about their relationship, or non-relationship, or whatever it had been. Sam had called because Dinesh had stepped out of line and Jordan had reacted to it. That was all. His call had nothing at all to do with Jordan. In a way, that hurt more, but at least it wasn’t intentional.
