Chapter 19

It was late, and he’d been about to go to bed when he’d remembered the laundry. It had been tempting to leave it till morning, but he’d grabbed his toothbrush and gone to the basement to hang it. Bed clothing was quick work to hang, and he could go to sleep without having to think.

Who had put a dead cat in his washing machine?

His entire body shook. Shit, what if the chocolate wasn’t from Kirk? He’d seen it and assumed, but simply because a guy bought you flowers didn’t mean he’d give you chocolate as well.

What if a sociopath was stalking Felix, breaking into his house, and hiding dead cats for him to find? Maybe it was the one…Ice filled his chest. Was it thecat? Had someone seen him bury it in his garden and gone to dig it up to use it to threaten Felix?

But why? Felix didn’t have any enemies, at least none that he knew about. But who knew what anyone was up to in a world where ninjas had secret societies.
