Nodding as if to himself, Cory turned back to Driz. “Yes, let’s go. Even if it might be more risky out in the open, there’ll be nothing to muffle the energy waves. I need to send a call for any magickally endowed folks who may have come or be on their way. There’s strength in numbers and we must band together if we’re to succeed here.”

Driz could only agree. They left the old neighborhood and went to a small park, a woodsy area nestled between two hills. Once such places had been common, left unchanged in the middle of neighborhoods, even among factories, offices, and shops. The new regime had no time for such, calling them a waste of valuable space. Despite that, a few survived, mostly in the outlying areas such as Hartshall, which had held on to some of its early village roots.
