Diving In

“So,” Sawyer said after a moment, and his breath puffed against the skin of my neck. “We’re going to ask Wade on a date?”


“We are. But we need to make sure we’re all on the same page, right? You, me, and him.”


“Right,” Sawyer said and gave a happy hum.


I slid my hand into his hair, massaging his head and letting the soft strands sift through my fingers. I felt reluctant to bring up one last thing because I had my happy baby back and I didn’t want to ruin that. But it was important, and I had to be the one to say it. “What if he doesn’t want us?”


Sawyer shot me a look. “He does. I can tell.”


I chuckled because the conviction in his tone was strong. But still, I had to keep going. “Okay, but I mean, what if he doesn’t want to dateus? What if he doesn’t want more than just a night?” I tugged Sawyer’s hair so he would meet my gaze again. “Are you going to be okay if Wade doesn’t say ‘yes’?”
