Diving In

And that was how Preston found us, nearly an hour later. Cuddled up on the couch, my legs over Wade’s lap and my head on his shoulder. I loved how easily I fit against him and how his long arms could envelope me completely.


“Now this is something I could get used to coming home to.” Preston’s wide smile and offhand comment sparked something inside me. My heart started beating fast again, and though I tried to keep in the words, I couldn’t.


From the way both men stared at me, I knew I’d been too loud. And from the look on Wade’s face, I knew I’d chosen the wrong words. I took a couple of deep breaths and massaged Wade’s neck.


“Not in a bad way. In a good way, I hope. I just…I can’t with everything…and we need…and things are…we’re going to go and I don’t want to!”
