Preston’s smile was gentle, and he kissed Wade’s cheek. “There’s not a lot holding us in Albany. We’d miss a few friends we see regularly, but that’s what trips are for. Especially when we can pack up and move. We lease our condo, and we have to give sixty days’ notice, but that’ll give us time to choose what to keep and what to get rid of. It’ll give all three of us time to keep talking. It’ll take some doing, but you’re worth it. We’reworth it. I want this forever.”
“I want forever, too!”
Wade gave me the smallest of smiles, but it didn’t quite reach his eyes. “Isn’t it too fast?”
“Nope!” I didn’t believe in “too fast.”
“Maybe for some.” Preston was, as always, the voice of reason. I stuck out my tongue at him, but he just ignored me. “I’m sure a lot of people are going to say it’s too fast. They’re going to think we’re taking a big gamble. But who cares what ‘they’ say? What’s important is what weknow and feel.”
