“Hey.” I stopped, then looked into his beautiful face. The sun was setting behind him, and just the barest hint of pink and gold remained in the sky, giving him a halo I knew he was worthy of. “We’re coming back, Wade. It’s just a couple of months for us to get our crap together and take care of the paperwork. For me to make arrangements with my job. It won’t be long.”
He nodded.
“And we’ll call you all the time,” Sawyer said as he approached. Wade and I both reached for him automatically, bringing him into our intimate circle. “You’ll probably get sick of how often we call. Because I’m telling you, I’m going to need to hear your voice at least nine hundred times a day.”
That got Wade to smile. “That’s a lot.”
“It won’t be enough.” Sawyer fit himself closer to us, so we both wrapped an arm around him. “It’ll be a rough sixty days, I know. Damn that sounds like a lot when I say it. But necessary, yeah? We’re doing this so we can be with you all the time. That’s what we want.”
