Wade kissed me, then Sawyer, then he pulled back and took our hands. He walked quickly and Sawyer had to jog to keep up, but I knew he didn’t care. Neither did I. Wade could lead us anywhere.
When we got to the dock, Wade looked a little nervous. He cleared his throat. “Do you want…Let’s spend the night on the boat. I want to take you out on the lake, where it’s just us and the dogs and the water and the stars, and just be.”
“Sounds perfect,” I said.
“Sound amazing!” Sawyer gave a little bounce. “It’ll be the best night ever. Until we come back. Then thatwill be the best night ever. The first best night of the rest of the best nights of our lives!”
Wade’s smile lit his face, and he ushered us on the boat. It took a little bit to get underway, but since neither Sawyer nor I knew anything about it, we left Wade to it.
Thirty minutes later, we slowed down and finally stopped. Wade emerged from the wheelhouse a few minutes after that.
