Chapter 93

Lucas

It isn’t the first time Mark comes to visit me. We met each other because he frequents the same cafeteria I use when I’m on break. He’s one of the security guards at the mall, and by chance he knows sign language because his grandfather was a deaf-mute.

He’s attractive and always very kind. I have the vague impression he’s interested in me. Right now his smile becomes a little naughty when he arranges a lock of hair that fell over my eyes, as he asks me at what time I get off work. I would like to tell him it’s a little too soon for me to feel attracted to somebody else, since Pete still lives permanently in my heart. Mark knows I was dating a guy until a short while ago but it doesn’t seem to deter him.

I’m about to tell him what time I clock out when I see movement to my right, and when I turn, I see Pete. MyPete.

Oh my, how beautiful he is…he’s always gorgeous. With those dark eyes, so deep, and that roguish smile.
