Cold air welcomed him as he stepped out, and he gulped it in. “What have I done?” He didn’t even search for an answer before he walked off along the street, fleeing an attractive woman he could have had sex with in two hours’ time. What was wrong with him? He feared he knew but kept moving, unwilling to listen.

A few steps from Jay’s address, he hesitated. He’d walked there without thinking. Seeing Jay so soon would only confuse him. He needed to leave.

He spun around, determined to retrace his steps, and froze, shocked to find Jay standing behind him.

What the hell was Dean doing standing in the middle of the pavement? The other man jolted, head jerking back, eyes wide, a trapped-in-the-headlights expression in his eyes, clearly as surprised to see Jay, as Jay was to spot Dean. Time ticked on, no one speaking. Unprepared to stand there all evening, Jay opened his mouth. “Were you coming up?” If true, Dean must have changed his mind.
