Chapter 54

His heart beats wildly at the sight of florescent orange in the distance. The colorful band is seen through the thick jungle, to Jason’s right, and near the Gulf. Jason’s pleased to take in the familiar swim trunks that he hates, although they are Dillon’s favorite. When Jason exits the pathway, keeping his view to the far right and water, quickening his pace again, he watches Dillon walk up and over the beach in his orange trunks. Dillon carries a dark green and hulking paddleboard under his right arm.

Dillon grins, wet hair dripping down and over his chiseled face. Slick chest. Gulf water soaking his orange suit. “Hey, babe!” he calls out, evidently happy to see him.

Jason feels lighter, blessed, and grounded again. He’s never been happier to see Dillon. Calm now. Less fixated. Refreshed. “You’ve been paddleboarding,” he states the obvious.

Dillon closes in on Jason. The two men don’t kiss. “You were napping. I needed some quiet time and found it on the Gulf.”
