Chapter 25

It was still early enough in the morning that there was not much of a line for tickets, and soon they were in an elevator ascending to the top.

“Wow, this elevator is fast,” remarked Marco, feeling his ears about to pop. The elevator doors opened, and they walked up to the windows for the view.

“This is amazing. I can see everywhere we’ve been. There’s the Statue of Liberty down there in the harbor, the bridge off in the other direction,”

“And Times Square down there,” said Dean, pointing. “And, of course, as the weather is clear, you’re looking at parts of three states: New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut well to the north.”

They gazed at the view for an hour, a fascinated Marco not wanting to leave. But finally, Dean said, “Are you ready for your surprise?”

“Yeah, okay, I guess I’ve seen enough, but it sure is cool up here,” smiled Marco.
