“So this is Dean,” she said, smiling broadly. “You were right, Marco. He’s a good-looking guy, all right. So where in New York do you live, Dean?”

“White Plains.”

“I was in Mt. Vernon. Hated it. Too much traffic. I was glad to get the job here in Boston. I was determined to find a place outside the city, though. When I found this loft, I fell in love with it.”

“Marco tells me you commute into Boston on the boat during the summer, the same boat we’re going to take today.”

“Yes, and in the winter, the train. Then it’s just a short walk from the station to my place. I really don’t have to drive much, just to the store on weekends.”

“You mean stores,” Marco corrected. “Christine is quite the shopper.”
