When PI Jake Marshall fails to stop the abduction and subsequent murder of a client who was being stalked, he vows to do everything in his power to identify the man responsible. “I don’t care one way or the other, as long as he does something about it.”


“True.” Russ glanced at the clock over the table before saying, “I should leave.”


“Because we both need our sleep?” Jake asked with a brief smile.


“That does seem to be our excuse, which doesn’t mean it’s not true.”


Russ shook his head. “I don’t think either of us is really in the mood.”


“Probably not. All right. I’ll call you as soon as I’ve heard anything from either Paul or Ogden.”


“Thanks. I work until five tomorrow, but if you want to try hitting up the clubs again tomorrow night, I’m game.”


“Let’s wait and see what happens before we decide.”
