When Russ had, Ogden asked Tanner, “Did you bring the trackers?”
“Yes, sir.” Tanner took two items from his jacket pocket that reminded Jake of the key fob he had for remotely starting his car.
Ogden handed one to Jake, the other to Russ, telling them, “Put it on your key ring.”
“Why me?” Jake asked, putting in his pocket, instead, telling him he’d do it later.
“Obviously so we know where you are,” Ogden replied, frowning at Jake. “We’re presuming Fabian will come after Russ, but we’d be remiss if we didn’t consider he might go after you, instead. I don’t think he will, but we’re not taking any chances.”
“Then why don’t you have someone watching him, too,” Russ asked, frowning.
“For the same reason he’s going to leave, now that my men are here. We want Fabian concentrating on showing Jake how clever he is by getting to you to punish him for interfering with his plans.”
“I don’t like it,” Russ retorted. “But I guess you know what you’re doing.”
